These terms govern your use of mygenogram.com. By accessing the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Educational content — not clinical advice

This is the most important section of these terms. Please read it carefully.

myGenogram publishes educational resources about genograms: articles, guides, templates, and worked examples. This content is designed to help you learn about genogram notation, family systems thinking, and transgenerational patterns. It is not a substitute for professional care.

Specifically, nothing on this site constitutes:

• Medical advice — genograms can reveal patterns of illness across generations, but identifying a pattern is not the same as receiving a diagnosis. If you notice concerning health patterns in your family, consult a physician or genetic counselor.
• Psychological or therapeutic advice — genograms are used in family therapy, but drawing one on your own is not therapy. If the process of mapping your family reveals patterns of trauma, abuse, addiction, or mental illness that are distressing, please seek support from a licensed therapist or counselor.
• A diagnostic tool — genograms help visualize family structures and relationships. They do not diagnose conditions, predict outcomes, or replace clinical assessment.

We take the accuracy of our content seriously. Our clinical advisor reviews material for correctness. But educational content, no matter how carefully prepared, cannot account for the specifics of your situation. If your genogram reveals something that concerns you, the right next step is a conversation with a qualified professional — not further reading on the internet.

Free resources and downloads

myGenogram offers free downloadable resources (PDF cheat sheets, templates, interview guides, worked examples) in exchange for an email address. These resources are provided under the following terms:

• Personal use only — you may download, print, and use these resources for your own learning, teaching, or clinical practice.
• No redistribution — you may not republish, resell, or redistribute the PDF files, whether modified or unmodified. Sharing a link to the resource page is welcome; sharing the file itself is not.
• No warranty of clinical completeness — while we strive for accuracy and follow the McGoldrick standard, these resources are reference aids, not authoritative clinical instruments. Always verify notation against the primary sources cited in our articles.

Intellectual property

The text, images, SVG symbols, page designs, and downloadable resources on myGenogram are copyright My Ally Monika Wirżajtys unless otherwise noted.

Genogram notation itself (the system of squares, circles, lines, and markers) is a professional standard developed primarily by Monica McGoldrick and colleagues. The notation is not our intellectual property. Our original work lies in the explanations, visual presentations, article texts, and designed resources — not in the symbols themselves.

You may quote short excerpts of our articles for non-commercial purposes (education, review, commentary) with attribution to myGenogram. For any other use, contact us first.

Email communications

When you subscribe through a lead magnet form, you consent to receiving the requested resource and related emails. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email. Our privacy policy describes in detail what data we collect, how we use it, and how long we keep it.

Links to third-party services

myGenogram links to external services including FamRoots (our parent practice), academic references, and tool comparisons. These links are provided for convenience and context.

• We do not control third-party websites and are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or availability.
• A link to a service does not imply endorsement.
• FamRoots is a separate commercial service with its own terms and pricing. Using myGenogram does not create any obligation or account with FamRoots.

Limitation of liability

myGenogram is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• We are not liable for any decisions you make based on the educational content on this site.
• We are not liable for any emotional distress arising from the process of creating or interpreting a genogram. Family mapping can surface difficult material — this is a known characteristic of the practice, not a defect of our resources.
• We are not liable for the accuracy, completeness, or clinical suitability of any content for your specific situation.
• Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the use of this site shall not exceed the amount you paid us — which, since myGenogram is free, is zero.

This limitation does not affect any rights that cannot be waived or limited under applicable law.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of Poland. Any disputes arising from the use of myGenogram shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts competent for Torun, Poland.

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

For material changes that affect your rights, we will make reasonable efforts to notify subscribers by email.
